The CfWI shares data with other parties so that it can provide credible and reliable workforce intelligence for all parts of the health and social care system.
The CfWI has produced a formal data sharing framework. This allows both parties to exchange sensitive data and maintain its confidentiality, security and integrity.
Under this framework, all workforce data received by the CfWI will be protected and secured and will only be used to improve our workforce intelligence and planning. It will not be shared outside the CfWI without permission. The framework covers non-personal and depersonalised data.
The framework has two parts:
- A framework agreement which is to be signed by both parties and which specifies the formal process to be applied to all data sharing requests. On signing this, both parties will be agreeing to adhere to the principles and guidelines for sharing data that this agreement defines.
- A data sharing request form which is used for individual data requests, and defines the data to be provided and the purpose.
Several parties have already signed up to the framework. An extended version that includes the use of personal data for research purposes has been agreed between the CfWI and the NHS Information Centre. This is available on request.
