The CfWI's intelligence on the public health workforce enabled its commissioners to make policy decisions on the future size and shape of this diverse and important workforce. Publications included a mapping of the wider workforce which contributes to improving the nation’s health, and reviews of the public health specialist and practitioner workforces. Review of infection prevention and control and TB nursing

The CfWI was commissioned by Public Health England (PHE), Health Education England (HEE) and the Department of Health to undertake a review of the infection prevention and control (IPC) and tuberculosis (TB) nursing workforce. The aim of this project was to improve PHE and HEE’s understanding of the current IPC and TB nursing workforce. Both reports were published in July 2015.
