This project reviews the current workforce planning and development system and its processes to identify gaps and recommend improvements to its information architecture.

Mapping the sources and flows of workforce information across the system, the project makes recommendations for strengthening and simplifying the information architecture, the data collection processes and the approaches to improving the quality of data. The project considers how to make the most effective use of existing data sources such as the Electronic Staff Record (ESR).

 

Identifying responsibilities

To improve the understanding of the workforce planning process, the project develops a blueprint describing and simplifying the information flows and identifies those organisations responsible for collecting and disseminating workforce planning and development information within the health and social care system. The project  looks at data sources such as the ESR.

 

Understanding needs

In mapping out the information architecture, the project clarifies our role within the health and social care system so our customers have a better understanding of the project's services and support it can provide. The project develops an understanding of the requirements of workforce planning organisations so we can identify the levers and resources that provide the greatest opportunities for improvement.
