Recommendation for medical specialty training for 2011
The CfWI carried out a piece of work in 2010 to analyse and inform on the numbers of doctors going into medical specialty training following on from foundation training. The work, commissioned by the Department of Health (DH), in consultation with strategic health authorities (SHAs) and Medical Education England (MEE), makes recommendations on numbers for the 2011 intake.

- identifies which medical specialties are at risk of over supply as well as identifying the geographical balance.
Medical summary sheets
A recommendation was made for the medical training numbers for 2011. These sheets summarise the drivers that influenced the recommendations, and state the 2011 recommendations by specialty. The individual sheets were extracted from the CfWI report Recommendation for Medical Specialty Training 2011 which contains an explanation of the approach taken in producing the recommendations.

Medical fact sheets
Fact sheets were created for each medical specialty. The sheets contain information on the current situation, and future requirements, of the workforce. This information was used to inform the recommendation for the 2011 medical training numbers.
