Developing a 10 year Medical Workforce Strategy for London
This paper summarises the conclusions of a project commissioned and led by NHS London to identify the strategic priorities for London’s medical workforce. The paper describes:
- high-level trends that will affect London’s medical workforce over the next decade
- expected demand and supply of doctors over the next 10 years
- actions that NHS London needs to take
- what needs to happen to implement the proposed actions.
The work was conducted over a four-month period and included desk research and analysis; interviews with a wide range of specialists and stakeholders; and the review of assumptions, analysis and conclusions with an expert reference group.
