Forensic psychiatry - MAC inclusion report September 2009

WRT analysis indicates that there is evidenced room for growth for consultants in forensic psychiatry over the next five years. Workload is increasing, with an anticipated increase in demand from a rise in the prison population and the rise in morbidity of the prison population. Modelling indicates there will be only a limited expansion in the future supply of trained specialists in the short term. In the short-medium term, the use of overseas recruitment is a sensible mechanism for alleviating shortages within the profession.
