Forensic psychiatry MAC report March 2009

This report finds that workload is increasing in forensic psychiatry, partly due to an anticipated increase in demand from a rise in the prison population and the rise in morbidity of the prison population. Modelling indicates there will be only a limited expansion in the future supply of trained specialists in the short term. In the short-medium term the use of overseas recruitment is a sensible mechanism for alleviating shortages within the profession
