Genito-urinary medicine - MAC inclusion report September 2009

WRT analysis indicates there is evidenced room for growth within genito-urinary medicine (GUM). In order to meet the DH agenda of making services more accessible and moving GUM activity into primary care, PCTs need to commission more trained doctors’ activity. Also employers establishing networks between specialist HIV/GU Dermatology clinics and local units will improve the supply situation in the medium-long term. However, in the short-medium term the use of overseas recruitment may be a sensible mechanism for alleviating shortages within the profession
