WRT analysis indicates that there is evidenced room for growth within clinical haematology. Some services could be provided by nurse specialists, bio-medical scientists (BMS), pharmacy staff and non-training junior grade doctors, however, the development of a consultant clinical scientist in haematology remains slow and relatively unfunded. In the medium to long term, enough UK/EEA trainees may be produced to meet demand. However, in the short-medium term, there is sufficient unmet demand in the profession that the use of overseas recruitment is a sensible mitigating strategy
