Orthodontics MAC report March 2009

This report looks at the orthodontic consultant workforce. It finds that in the medium-long term, deaneries and employers should establish initiatives to encourage trainees to complete a fixed term training appointment (FTTA) post and thereby be eligible for employment as NHS consultants. However, in the short-medium term, overseas recruitment is a sensible strategy for alleviating staffing shortages for consultant orthodontists.
