There is evidenced room for growth within the therapeutic radiographer workforce, especially in light of the 30 to 50 percent increase in the radiotherapy workforce identified as being necessary within the National Radiotherapy Advisory Group (NRAG) report. Improving recruitment to training courses, reducing in-course attrition and establishing the four-tier career pathway for the therapeutic radiographer workforce will improve the supply situation within in the medium-long term. However, in the short-medium term the use of overseas recruitment is a sensible mechanism for alleviating shortages within the profession.
