Transforming Health & Economics: 8th World Congress on Health Economics

Three presentations from the 8th World Congress on Health Economics, including one from the CfWI.

The 8th World Congress on Health Economics was held in Toronto from 10 to 13 July 2011. The Transforming Health & Economics session focused on exchanging new methodologies and data sources that have been recently developed in some OECD countries (Canada, the United States, and England/United Kingdom) to improve health workforce planning and enhance the ability of countries to respond to workforce needs over the next 10 to 15 years.

The Chief Executive of the CfWI, Peter Sharp, presents on the shape of the future health workforce in England. He explores the thinking, models, options and plans for how England proposes to re-shape the health workforce over the next 10 to 15 years.

Edward Salsberg (National Center for Health Workforce Analysis in the US Department of Health and Human Services) presents new approaches to health workforce data and planning in the United States.

Geoff Ballinger, from the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), presents recent work from CIHI examining entry and exit in health professions in Canada, with a focus on physicians.
