Peter Sharp, Chief Executive of the CfWI, presented on The role of nurses in delivering integrated healthcare: workforce implications at the sixth annual Reshaping the Nursing Workforce conference and broadcast which took place in London on 22nd February 2012.

The presentation looks at:

  • Future roles of nurses and midwives
  • What next?

The conference featured a keynote address by Anne Milton MP, Minister for Public Health. The event looked at the integral role of education and training in delivering an expert workforce.

In addition it considered the extent to which the future shape of our workforce is mirroring the care challenges we face. It is essential that the future shape as well as the size of the future workforce is informed through evidence-based planning with closer alignment of service delivery, education and training and research.

Professor James Buchan, from the School of Health Sciences, Queen Margaret University and one of CfWI’s professional advisors also spoke about nursing workforce trends and projections.
